Shops Near King’s Cross Station

Whilst there aren’t really any independent or touristy shops in Bloomsbury itself, we’re lucky at the hotel in that we’re only a 10 minute walk from a huge number of shops near King’s Cross Station and nearby areas. So if retail therapy is your thing, and you’re making a list of what not to miss shopping-wise while you’re in Bloomsbury, read on for a few suggestions.

Shopping at the Brunswick Centre, Bloomsbury

For shops in Bloomsbury London, the Brunswick Centre is the place to go. Just round the corner from the Mentone Hotel and set between Brunswick Square and Russell Square, it’s just a short walk from the British Museum and packed with places to eat, drink and shop.

Retailers include Waitrose, Boots, Holland & Barrett, Sainsbury’s, Robert Dyas, Superdrug, Cards Galore, Brunswick Bookshop, Skoob Books and Glam Touch (beauty products). The centre is open 7am to 11pm, although you should check individual shops for specific opening hours.

For shops near King’s Cross Station, you’ll find a good 45 or so at this complex, built around converted warehouses on the canal side just a few minutes from King’s Cross and St Pancras stations.

There are plenty of places to eat while you shop here too, from breakfast and brunch to Sunday roasts and grab-and-go takeaways, so you won’t go hungry.

It’s open Monday to Saturday 11am to 7pm, and Sunday 11am to 5pm, but do check individual retailers for specific hours.

If you’re looking for shops near King’s Cross Station, especially clothes shops near King’s Cross, include a visit to St Pancras International. There are loads of retailers here, and again you won’t go hungry or thirsty with many places to eat and drink too.

If you’re into your designer brands, you’ll be well served with the likes of Chanel, Calvin Klein, Coach, FatFace, Gant, Jigsaw, Kate Spade and Reiss.

There are plenty of beauty and gift shops too, like Hamleys, Jo Malone, L’Occitane, Mac Cosmetics, Neal’s Yard, Oliver Bonas and The White Company. There’s also a Fortnum & Mason, as well as high street favourites like Boots, Holland & Barrett and WH Smith.

King’s Cross Station has its own selection of shops, including popular brands like Hotel Chocolat, Oliver Bonas, Pandora, Paperchase, Rituals, Kiehl’s and Urban Decay.

The Harry Potter Shop at Platform 9¾ is a big attraction where fans flock to stock up on souvenirs. Plus you’ll find the usual high street favourites, like Boots, WH Smith, Little Waitrose and M&S Simply Food.

There are loads of dining options here too, lots of chains like Prezzo, Giraffe World Kitchen, Pret, Caffe Nero, Costa, etc.

Canopy Market

This covered market is situated just off the popular Granary Square, which is famous for its dancing fountains and eateries. It’s open 12-8pm on Fridays, and 11am-6pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays.

Amongst the stalls you’ll find the likes of street food and fresh produce, plus homewares, ceramics, accessories and jewellery. It’s nice to see local traders making a living here and well worth a visit.

There is a schedule of special events and feature weekends throughout the year as well, including a totally vegan version of the market, plus pop-up art galleries.

Lower Stable Street Market

This outdoor market is set around cobbled streets and usually kicks off around Easter time every year. It’s open Thursday and Friday 12pm-7pm, and Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays 11am-6pm.

Typically you’ll find a variety of food and drink, homewares, art, books and clothing.

The stalls are run by up-and-coming designer-makers and emerging brands, and every weekend you’ll come across a different selection of stallholders, so there’s always something new to see.

Shōtengai Pan-Asian Market

Every month, Lower Stable Street transforms into a “Shōtengai Market” where you’ll find an array of stalls exclusively featuring pan-Asian homeware and food.

As with Lower Stable Street Market, it starts up in the spring, and is open on Thursday and Friday 12pm-7pm, and Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays 11am-6pm.

Shōtengai are local street markets found across the cities of Japan. They sell a wide range of products, focusing on small businesses and independent retailers. Expect to see things like Japanese homewares, accessories and fashions as well as Japanese foods including cakes, pancakes and Takoyaki (Japanese fish fingers).
